Sama Rice aur Gajar Ki Kheer

  • 1/4 Cup Sama Rice/ Barnyard Millet
  • 4 Cups Whole Cream Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Finely Grated Carrots
  • 1-2 tbsp Finely Chopped Almonds
  • 1 tbsp Raisins
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder/Elaichi Powder
  • Sugar as required


  • Wash and soak Sama Rice in water for at least 30 minutes.Grate carrots finely.
  • In a heavy bottomed pan, keep milk to boil medium flame. 
  • When the first boil comes, lower the flame, drain water from soaked sama rice, add to milk, along with grated carrots , nuts and raisins and mix.
  • Cook till  rice starts to thicken add sugar, mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve hot or chilled.
