  • 11/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Castor Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Essence


  • Pre-heat the oven to 350F or 180C. 
  • Melt butter in a bowl and keep it to cool.
  • Mix together all-purpose flour, baking soda, sugar and salt if using unsalted butter.
  • In another bowl, mix together egg, milk, melted butter and vanilla essence.
  • Add the liquid ingredients to the flour mix and just fold in the 
  • Pipe the batter in the donut pan and bake for 8 minutes at 350F or 180C.
  • When baked the donuts will the side of the pan. Don't leave the pan in the oven for long you will get dry donuts.
  • Cool the donuts once cooled glaze the donuts with Chocolate glaze and decorate with sprinkles.


For Chocolate donuts, follow the same recipe and instructions, only substitute 1/4 all-purpose flour with unsweetened cocoa powder. Sieve with all-purpose flour, baking powder and sugar.
The donuts can be baked in muffin pans, adjust the baking time as per the muffins size.
