Til Patti or Til Patti, a white sesame seeds and jaggery preparation brittle/sweet ball made during the winter months and the harvest festival of Lohri and Makar Sankranti. Learn how to make Til Patti or Tilkut.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup White Sesame Seeds
  • 3/4 Cup Grated Jaggery or broken in small pieces
  • 1 tsp Ghee/Indian Clarified Butter

Instructions
 

  • Dry roast Sesame seeds in a pan. When the seeds start turning brown and giving the nutty aroma, take off from the pan and keep aside to cool. 
  • In another heavy bottomed pan, heat ghee, add grated/broken gur, add 1-11/2 tsp of water and melt it.
  • Once the gur melts and starts to bubble, add til, mix and cook till the mixture starts to gather together and thickens. 
  • To make Til patti/brittle.. Immediately transfer to a parchment paper or a greased tray, flattened it with help of rolling pin, cut into shapes as required.
  • To make ladoos/sweet balls.. Transfer to a plate, let it slightly cool so that it is comfortable to take in hand. Wet your hands and make ladoos. 
  • Leave it in open for an hour and then store in an air-tight container.
  • Tl Patti or Tilkut are ready to relish.
