What is Guacamole..
Made with ripe avocados, Guacamole is mainly used as dip with corn chips. Best enjoyed when fresh with dash of lime and red chillies flakes. It is basically a Mexican dish but is now very popular all over the world.
It can also be used as spread or filling on breads for sandwiches, tacos and even Indian flat breads like chapatis and paranthas.
Made with easily available ingredients at home it takes just a few minutes to prepare it.
Everyone has their own way of enjoying guacamole. Some like it chunky, some like it smooth. Others like to add garlic, onion and sour cream. Jalapenos add on to the spice level and add a peculiar sharp taste to it.
We like it neither too chunky nor too smooth and love it with lot of lime juice , red chillies flakes, finely chopped onions and some tomato.
Benefits of Avocados...
Avocado is a very unique fruit. It doesn't ripens on tree, rather it ripens when plucked and kept for few days. It is also one of the fruits that is not rich in carbohydrates but is a rich source of fats.
Avocados are rich source of good fats, fiber, antioxidants and potassium. Though these are rich in fats, these are safe to consume as these are rich sources of good monounsaturated fats. How to use avocados to make Guacamole
Ripe avocados should be used in preparing Guacamole. To check whether this fruit is ripe or not, just press it little it should not be too soft nor too hard.
When I first bought avocado I did not know that it takes time to ripe. I saw these at the store and bought some raw avocados. I had read a few guacamole recipes and knew we can use mashed avocado while kneading dough for chapatis. I didn't pay attention to the ripe or raw thing and stored these in the refrigerator. Next day when I tried cutting it. and it was too hard!!? Then I searched online on how to use it and came to know that these should be left on counter to ripen.. Lesson learned, now whenever I buy something for the first time, I do my research and then use it as per my preferences.
Cut avocado lengthwise. Take out the big seed. With the help of spoon, take out the pulp and use as required.
How to make and serve the best Guacamole..
Try always making and serving fresh Guacamole. Avocados tend to get dark when left in open or come in contact with air.
If you like it chunky, mash with a spoon or fork. For smooth guacamole, process it in food processor.
Though it tastes best when made fresh, but in case, if making ahead of party, cover it with a cling film and keep it in an airtight container. Serve when required. Add lime juice to add freshness to it's taste.

I have never had any success with avocado and so I usually avoid buying them as they are also too expensive. But I have read so much about guacamole and am always tempted to try it. Your looks so good.
