How to make Best ever Homemade Hot Chocolate
Simple or Spiced we all love Hot Chocolate !! Kids love it topped with marshmallows or cream or both!! My favourite is Peppermint Hot Chocolate. Add your favourite spice like Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Pumpkin Spice for extra kick.
For rich creamy Hot Chocolate always use Whole Milk. You can use low skimmed milk or fat free too incase if any health issues. Vegans can make it with any plant based milk.
Good quality bittersweet Chocolate along with some Cocoa Powder. Incase, bittersweet chocolate is not available, you can use any other milk chocolate also but don't use Chocolate Compounds bars(which are widely available in India and are used as Chocolate Substitutes in making chocolates).
Cocoa Powder along with a tbsp. of cornflour and sugar as per your taste. My personal experience is Dutch processed cocoa powder are best to use for the professional touch. Those who avoid castor sugar in their diet, can add coconut sugar or jaggary in hot chocolate. But the taste will differ a bit.
If you want your hot Chocolate just like the one you get at your favourite cafe, use Dutch Processed Cocoa.
Let's see now how I make delicious and comforting Hot Chocolate and DIY Hot Chocolate Mix
Homemade Creamy Hot Chocolate
In a pan add milk and water. In a bowl, add 1/2 cup water and dissolve cornflour and cocoa powder. Add the spice you want to add. If adding peppermints, add after the milk is boiled.
When adding a spice like cloves/cinnamon/pumpkin spice add while boiling food. When adding whole spice take out once the milk boils and flavor infuses in milk.
Chop chocolate finely.
Add everything in milk except chocolate and keep stirring till you get a smooth silky mixture.
Take off the heat and add chopped chocolate and mix till it dissolves.
For a frothy touch, beat the mixture carefully for a 1-2 minutes and pour in mugs.
DIY Hot Chocolate Mix
Take chocolate in food processor and pulse for few seconds. Add all the other ingredients and pulse the processor for few more seconds. Mix everything well.
Please Note-- Grinder or food processor must be completely dry not even a drop of water.
Sugar in Chocolate Mix will absorb water and mix will crystalize.
Use as required. Mix 2 tbsp in a cup of hot water or milk for a more creamy drink.

Such a mouthwatering beverage to sip on all winter! I could enjoy this, especially with lots of marshmallows even on a hot day! Great idea to make it DIY especially as most store bought ones do have chemicals and so many unwanted ingredients! Fab share dear!

Swaty pass me the chocolate. Mind you I do not much enjoy chocolate shakes or milks (too many times have gone to school with just chocolate milk in me) but your pics are tempting me to try making some. Only need some chilly weather here.
