Paneer/Indian Cottage Cheese, one of the most versatile ingredient from Indian sub-continent that can used in making a number of dishes like snacks and starters, main course curries and desserts.
It is so popular among the vegetarians in India that almost every restaurant at least 10-20 special Paneer dishes in their menus. While dining out many of us order at least one Paneer dish for the starters, one dish for the main course!! Parties, get together or and special occasion, you will surely find Paneer dishes in the menu.

Paneer/Indian Cottage Cheese is made from dairy milk and is not a vegan friendly ingredient though it is gluten-free. For Vegan -friendly version , it can substituted with Tofu. I have mentioned in respective posts where you can substitute Tofu for Paneer.
Also, in many paneer recipes we use curd/yogurt or cream. These can be substituted with any plant based yogurt or cream.
Paneer and It's benefits
Paneer is a very versatile ingredient can be used in a no. of curries, snacks and starters, breads(parathas/rolls) and even in rice based dishes like pulao or biryani.
Paneer has high nutritive value. It is a rich source of protein, Vit D and calcium. It helps to strengthen the bones and prevents tooth decay. For vegetarians, it suffices the daily protein requirement.
I always prefer homemade Paneer than the store bought one. Advantages of making Paneer at home is that it it is freshly made, not suspicion of it being adulterated and is free from any preservatives or other ingredients, so it is light on stomach and easily digestible.
