Sweet Mango Cooler Recipe for summers . Light and refreshing drink with ripe mangoes, herbs of choice, ginger and lemon.
Refreshing so cool Mango Summer Cooler is the adaptation of Mexican Mango Augas Fresca. These summer coolers made with blending fruits with water. To enhance the taste herbs like mint, basil, thyme, rosemary are also added.
When the days are hot and humid, a glass of natural summer cooler refreshes mind and body and perk up the energy levels. Ditch the bottled drinks and make different summer coolers with seasonal fruits that are so good for health as these contain nutrients required by human body during harsh summers.

Summers are the best time to enjoy the seasonal mangoes. In India both raw and sweet(ripe) mangoes are used in making various desserts, curries and salads. Checkout these delicious recipes with mangoes from my blog which range from salad, desserts to the savory Mango Kadhi.
Mango Agua Fresca is ideal for your backyard summer parties, pool parties and kids play dates. Make it in the morning and refrigerate it and serve it in evening when guests arrive.
Mangoes are low in calories but loaded with nutrients. These are the rich source of antioxidants, vitamins like C,E, A, K, folates and minerals like potassium, copper with negligible fats.
How to make Mango Summer Cooler
It takes only 5 mins and a handful of ingredients to make this refreshing Mango cooler. It is a very adaptable recipe where you can adjust the ingredients as per no. of people and availability of herbs.
I made it for my family (4 of us) and have used 2 big mangoes (Safeda variety) with 3 cups water, it gave 4 glasses.
Mangoes-Choose fresh ripe mangoes, any variety is okay. You can also use mango puree or frozen mango chunks.
Herbs- Basil, Mint, Thyme or Rosemary add of the fresh herbs. Be careful in adding herbs as it may overpowder the taste of mango. Ginger is optional, Ilove adding this to my drink. Lemon brings out the flavour of mangoes in this refreshing summer cooloer.
When adding mint, do not blend with mangoes. Only muddle the leaves and add. Mint leaves turn bitter after a while when blended with fruits.
Sweetener- Add sweetener as per the sweetness in mangoes. If the mangoes are too sweet you can skip it also. I have added raw cane sugar, you can add maple syrup, honey, jaggery powder or even castor sugar.
In a blender add chopped mangoes, ginger, 4-5 basil leaves( or any herbs),lemon juice, sugar and water. Blend to fine juice like consistency. Add water as per the consistency of the cooler. I add 3/4-1 glass water for 1 medium sized mango. Adjust as required.
While blending you can add some ice cubes also. Chill the drink well before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs or you can also add finely chopped mangoes pieces.
Storing and serving suggestions for Mango Summer Cooler
It is best when served on the day when you make it. Refrigerate for a couple of hrs and serve. You can make it in morning and serve in evening. I have not stored it for more than a day.
You can freeze it and make popsicles for kids to enjoy.
While blending the ingredients do not add much water, make a thick mix. and add carbonated water(soda) or sparkling water to make a refreshing mocktail for your guests.
Instead of water add coconut water and make it more health friendly.
Mango Summer Cooler
- High Speed Blender
- 2 Ripe Mangoes(large)
- 5-6 Basil Leaves or any other fresh herbs like mint, rosemary
- 1 Lemon
- Fresh Ginger (small piece) optional
- Raw Cane Sugar or any sweetener as required
- Wash nicely and peel mangoes.
- Chop roughly.
- In a blender add mango pieces, basil leaves, ginger, lemon juice, sugar and water.
- Blend to fine juice consistency. You can also add 3-4 ice cubes.
- Transfer in a serving jug/pitcher, chill before serving.
- Enjoy refreshing drink garnishes with fresh basil or chopped mango pieces.
- Add water ¾ glass for 1 medium sized mango.
- Instead of water add Coconut Water and make it more health friendly.
- Skip herbs and ginger if you want.
- For a spicy punch add few chilli flakes for Spiced Mango Summer Cooler.
