Nutrient Rich Ladoos..
These energy bites are not only delicious and but also nutritious. The main ingredient here is Ragi which a gluten-free flour. Check out my Whole Wheat and Ragi Ladoos with Edible gum and my recent post Ragi Buttermilk where I have discussed about the various health benefits of Ragi.
The other ingredients used here are Dates, Figs, Walnuts, Almonds and Cashew nuts which are the best sources of antixidants, rich in minerals, vitamins and proteins.
Kid are home these days due to summer vacations. Outings, activity classes and just being at home all day makes them hungry with cravings to munch something through out the day. Fruits, cookies, nuts and homemade desserts..at times kids get bored of eating nuts and fruits. Also while going out I can pack these for keep hunger pangs away.
I usually make enrgy bites with dired fruits like these Date and Fig Rice Krispes for their school snack sometimes . Never used Ragi flour in in these. The recipe I followed is from my blogger friend Renu's blog..Cook With Renu , where she had posted the recipe for Sugarless Ragi Ladoos, just a few days back. The ladoos came out so good and especialy my kids liked these a lot. My hubby who has a sweet tooth relished these a lot . Kids initially thought that these are chocolate and nut ladoos.
I am paired with Renu for this month's Recipe Swap Challange , where we have to select a recipe from our partner's blog and make it. Renu has a wonderful collection of healthy bakes, many with gluten-free flours, traditonal Indian Cusine to fusion recipes.I was in two minds about making Srikhand, her mom's recipe and Coconut Bread, but then recently she posted these nutritious ladoos with Ragi, and I knew what I had to make.
I followed Renus's recipe and as she said in her post, I used whatever nuts were available. She used hazelnuts in her recipe, I added mixed nuts like cashew nuts, almonds, walnuts and dried fruits like cranberries , mango along with dates, figs and purnes.
Let's see in detail how I made these nutritious Ragi and Nuts Ladoos...

Just when I was about to take the pics, my son asked me whether I am making Chocolate Truffles and asked me to roll these in cocoa powder or dip in chocolate. So I rolled these in hot chocolate mix 😉 ..
