Basil Lemon Dressing recipe with fresh basil leaves and citrusy lemons

Basil Lemon Vinaigrette

This homemade simple and easy Basil and Lemon (Dressing) vinaigrette goes very well with your salads, breads, sandwiches. This is gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free and healthy salad dressing bursting with fresh basil and citrusy lemons.

Toss out some sweet corn and peanuts to make simplest salad for munching or use it as a marinade for your chicken, vegetables, tofu/paneer. Use it as a dip for garlic bread.

What I need to make Basil Lemon and Honey Dressing

Fresh Basil Leaves-- Fresh basil leaves not only add aroma and flavor to dishes but it is also a good source of an oxidants, some traces of minerals like calcium, iron and manganese. It is known to have significant amount of Vit. K.

Lemon- Citrusy Lemons add on the tanginess and also lot of antioxidants. Zest of lemon and juice add on the punch to it. Lemons are known to be one of the richest source of Vit. C. Help in boasting the immune system of the body.

Sweetener- Maple syrup, agave nectar or coconut sugar or any other sweetener. If you are not vegan you can use Honey too. Castor sugar is fine too.

Garlic Powder, Black pepper or any other dried herbs-- I recommend adding garlic powder to it for the flavor. I feel fresh garlic leaves a raw after aftertaste and doesn't taste good in the dressing. You can use a mix of Italian seasoning or dried oregano or thyme for an added punch. For no garlic version skip it.

I used here garlic powder, black pepper and red chilli flakes for extra punch!!

Salt as per taste .

How to make Basil, Lemon Dressing

Use for processor/blender or chopper for mixing all the ingredients.

Grate the zest of lemon and keep aside.

Add fresh basil leaves, zest of lemon, garlic powder, honey and other seasoning if using.

Pulse 4-5 times. Add olive oil and pulse again 2-3 times.

Store in air tight container and use as required.

This dress would add so much zing and tang to salads and really pep them up. Liked the use of the garic powder, I have never used that in a dressing. Time to try something new.

I haven't used it for more than 4-5 days as it always finishes before that and about 15-20 days in freezer(in cubes), didn't store it beyond that 🙂 !! Do try it, it is best when added fresh!

I almost always use basil in pasta or pizza, or in making pesto. Using it in a dressing like this is new to me.

The dressing sounds absolutely delicious, with honey and lemon going in. I'm so sure I would love this!
