About the Recipe

Indian Style Cold Coffee one of the simplest recipe, made with milk, instant coffee, sugar and ice cubes. Now there are many variations to it, with different flavors and toppings.

These days people like going to cafes to enjoy coffee and have a good time with their friends. You can make this refreshing cafe style coffee at home. Rich creamy frothy coffee with simple ingredients and you do not even need any special equipment.

In hot summers people prefer chilled coffee and in winters, hand beaten hot coffee is preferred. But now with hand blenders and mixers you can easily make the frothy coffee brew, store it and use it as and when required.

What we need to make Cold Coffee

A chilled glass of cold coffee is made a very simple way. All we need is the basic ingredients from our pantry. You can make it in blender or in a milk shaker too. Or. more simply in a bottle with airtight lid.

Cold Chilled Milk- Preferably use full fat milk. You can also use plant milk like Almond Milk, Soy or Coconut Milk for Vegan or Dairy Free Cold Coffee.

Instant Coffee- I like using Instant Coffee powder. You can also use filter coffee or

Sugar- Use any sweetener of your choice. I mostly used raw cane sugar but recently have discovered that brown sugar adds more taste to it. You can also use castor sugar or coconut palm sugar.

Variations for Flavours

You can add additional flavors like Vanilla, Chocolate, Caramel or Nutella. Or top with Chocolate Sauce, Ice cream, Choco Chips.

Chocolate/Mocha Coffee-- Add cocoa powder or chocolate sauce or chocolate powder. Perfect for those who love both coffee and chocolate. Adjust sugar accordingly.

Vanilla- Add vanilla essence or sweetened  vanilla flavored milk or half and half.

Caramel Coffee- Add butterscotch or caramel sauce.

Spiced Cooled Coffee- Spice it up with cinnamon powder, pumpkin spice or light chai masala.

Add other flavours like Hazelnut syrup or Amaretto for more exotic coffee milkshake flavours.

How to make the best frothy and creamy Coffee

Making coffee is a breeze. You can make it in two simple ways.

One way is just add all the ingredients in blender. Add some ice cubes and blend.

And the other is first make the frothy brew and add to the chilled milk.

I like to use the first way as it is more quick. When I have guests coming over then I make the brew before time and then simply add it to chilled milk with other toppings or chocolate sauce and serve.

To make the Frothy Brew, we beat coffee sugar with little milk/water until it is light creamy and frothy. Just like we whip the cream. Beating incorporates air in the mixture.

You can store this brew for 2-3 days in an airtight jar. This brew can be used for making cold as well as hot coffee.

Serving Suggestions or Add-ons for your Frothy Cold Coffee

For Cafe Style Cold Coffee, you can drizzle chocolate sauce or caramel sauce along the edges/sides of the glass. Refrigerate the glass for about 10 mins. before serving. Then add prepared coffee and serve.

You can top cold coffee with whipped cream or ice-cream of your choice. Vanilla, Chocolate, Coffee and Butterscotch are the best flavours of ice cream to add in your cold coffee.

How long can we store cold coffee

Cold coffee can be refrigerated for 1-2 days in airtight glass bottles/jars.

Frothy Brew can be stored for 3-4 days. Take out as much as you want and then use as required.
