Mango Sago is a delicious pudding with mango in coconut milk. It is made with small Sago/Tapioca pearls or Sabudana in coconut milk along with condensed milk.
This tropical dessert is a perfect summer treat when mangoes are in season. It is light and delicious, quick and easy recipe which takes only a couple of minutes to prepare.
About the Recipe
Mango Sago Pudding is a popular Hong Kong/Singaporean/Thai dessert and other Southeast Asian countries. There is also an Indian version of this dessert which is popularly known as Mango Sabudana Kheer made in dairy milk.
In this post I am covering the Hong Kong/Singaporean way of making it in coconut milk. It is a quick and easy summer recipe, served chilled with chunks of mango.
Few days back I was looking for some non Indian Mango dessert recipes when I came across this version of Sago Pudding. After reading a couple of recipes, I made my version and served to my family. They absolutely loved and gave me a thumbs up to post on my blog.
So, let's now see how to make Mango Sago with Coconut Milk.
What is Sago
Sago, food starch prepared from carbohydrate material stored in the trunks of several palms, the main source being the true sago palm. It is widely used in South Pacific countries as one of the main meal ingredient to prepare soups, cakes, desserts (puddings).
In India it is known as Sabudana widely used as fasting food,as it is rich in carbohydrate. Sago/Sabudana here is used in recipes like Sabudana Vada Fried , Sabudana Khichdi, Sabudana Kheer and many more.

Ingredients to make Mango Sago
Sago Pearls- For this recipe we use small sago pearls. This give a rich jelly like texture to the pudding.
Mango- Use ripe, sweet and juicy mango, any local variety is good to use in the recipe.
Coconut Milk- Use thick coconut milk. Freshly made at home or canned/tetra pack. Check my post Sol Kadhi on How to make Coconut Milk at home.
Sweetener- I have added condensed milk. You can add sugar/maple syrup for the vegan mango sago pudding. You can also add condensed milk for non vegan version if you don't have any diet restrictions.
Vanilla Essence- Enhances the flavour of the pudding. It is optional, you can skip it.
