Best Homemade Restaurant Style Salsa Recipe | Learn how to make Fresh Homemade Salsa

Salsa -Pin

One of the easiest, simplest and loved recipe by my family. Restaurant Style Salsa made with fresh summer produce.. Tomatoes, Cilantro, Lime/Lemon juice and Jalapenos. Homemade Salsa is one of the best ways to enjoy munchies like corn chips/ nachos or tortillas.

What is Salsa

Salsa is Mexican Condiment and typically means 'Sauce with wide varied forms'. Mexicans usually prepare their salsa fresh, though these days you can see so many variations in store aisles.

Salsa is used as dip with nachos, tortilla chips, added to bean salads and as topping for enchiladas and quesadillas.

Another mexican dip from the blog- Guacamole

Try soft and nutritious Spinach Tortillas from the blog to make healthy burritos, quesadillas or burritos.

Tomato Salsa is the most popular and basic salsa. You can make different versions of it with adding different fruits like pineapple, mango or veggies like grilled fresh corn, colored bell peppers etc.

Another family favourite Salsa from my blog-- Mango and Strawberry Salsa

Do you know No Cook Salsa made with fresh ingredients is known as SALSA FRESCA/CRUDA.

Salsa made with Green Tomatoes/Tomatillos is known as Salsa Verde.

Cooked Salsa are made with roasted tomatoes and dried red chillies.

Ingredients to make Restaurant Style Salsa

Tomatoes- Red ripe juicy tomatoes Roma Tomatoes are my favourite choice. Cherry tomatoes are my other favourite. In Indian variety I like the country tomatoes (Desi Variety). Many people like canned tomatoes, but I love using fresh tomatoes to make Salsa Fresca. You can also add roasted or grilled tomatoes, but that will come under cooked Salsa category.

Red Onions- Soak Onions for a few minutes in water, it lessens the bitter taste which can make the uncooked salsa taste unpalatable.

Chilli Peppers- Jalapenos are the popular choice but to add heat you can add any of your favourite or locally available variety. Add chillies as per your heat/chilli tolerance. Discard the seeds from chillies if you do not want it very spicy.

Cilantro/Fresh Coriander Leaves- Fresh Cilantro leaves add a refreshing taste. Do not add lots of it, as cilantro will shield the taste of tomatoes.

Acid- Lime/Lemon to add the citrusy flavour. But if your really want to get the typical restaurant style taste, try to add vinegar(white rice vinegar or any other plant based). I used Apple Cider Vinegar here.

Others- Cumin Powder, Salt to taste, Sugar(to balance the acidity of tomatoes and lemons), Black Pepper Powder(optional, I did not use it).

How to make Restaurant Style Salsa

To make best restaurant style Salsa, simply blitz all the ingredients to your desired consistency. If you want more chunky salsa, pulse it for fewer times. For a more finer salsa, pulse the ingredients to finer consistency.

Can we freeze Salsa

You can also freeze Salsa for a couple of days, but for me, nothing beats the taste of fresh salsa. You can make a day ahead before your parties or gatherings.

Salsa looks absolutely scrumptious and too tempting Swati. With Nachos or any chips, this is surely a crowd-pleaser. Would love to try for my Mexican friend when he visits me.
