Smoothies great way to enjoy various fruits and veggies in one go. The right combination of fruits, veggies, and proteins in smoothies can make a wholesome breakfast and help you maintain your health. A glass of smoothie in the morning can do wonders for your health, keep you full for a long time and in hot summer afternoons makes your body feel cool, fresh and keeps it hydrated. For fussy kids, smoothies are a great way to feed them fruits and veggies which makes the task of feeding the right balance of fruits and veggies to kids.
Watermelon, Blueberries and Kiwifruit are the main fruits used for making this smoothie.
I love watermelon and summers are the right time to enjoy these. Slice and chill watermelon, sprinkle chaat masala( an Indian spice mix used in various snacks, street food, and salads) and enjoy. I also pair it with berries to make Aguas Frescas or cool-waters to beat the summer heat. Click on the link of Watermelon and Mint Cooler for the recipe. It is also a great fruit that beautifully pairs up berries and apple. Each juicy bite of watermelon is rich in anti-oxidants, vitamins B and C and very low in sodium. Blueberries are one of the best natural anti-oxidants, helps in weight loss, boosts brain health and are anti-inflammatory. One of the best food for people who have hypothyroid. Kiwis are one of the richest source of Vit.C and best food to boost the immune system, good for skin. I add mint or coriander leaves which have great detoxifying property, which purifies our blood, detoxifies and cleanses our system. Jal-jeera/chaat masala imparts great flavor to my fruit smoothies do try it once (instead of any sweeteners if, you add any) as these impart any fruit preparations refreshing taste. You can get these spice mixes at any Indian Grocery store or you can make these at home also. Will soon update recipes for my chaat masala and jal-jeera powder. As a substitute for these try adding Black or Himalayan Pink salt with some crushed roasted cumin powder. My word you will love these spice mixes in your fruits, juices or smoothies.
Let’s make this 5 mins quick and simple smoothie.
Take a cup of watermelon pieces ( I keep the seeds if you don’t like take out the seeds), half cup of blueberries, one kiwifruit and few mint leaves, chaat masala/jal-jeera powder 1/4 tsp or as per taste..
Blend everything together in a blender till smooth.
Pour in a glass, add some ice cubes if you want or just chill it for a few mins and enjoy the yummy drink.
Many people don’t like the seeds of kiwi fruits, you can take them out if these irk you, but remember these are very good for your body and are a small source of omega-3 fats, proteins and fiber. Also, read somewhere that seeds of kiwifruit can allergic reactions in those who have nut allergies( source– online), so if this is the case with you can avoid adding these to your smoothie.
Last time when I had this smoothie I enjoyed my breakfast with single egg sunny side up, mint and cilantro chutney and avocado toast with Double berry smoothie!!
An all fruit smoothie recipe with Watermelon, Kiwifruit and Blueberries flavoured with Indian spice mix-chaat masala
- Watermelon pieces– 11/2 cup
- Blueberries– 1/2 cup
- Kiwifruit–1 or 1/2
- Chaat Masala/Jal Jeera Powder*– 1/4 Tsp(optional)
*Black Salt+Roasted Cumin Powder-1/4+1/4 Tsp
Take all 3 fruits in a blender and blend well. Add the spice mix(Chaat Masala/Black salt and Cumin Powder mix) and mix well.
Pour and glass, chill for sometime before having and enjoy!!!
